Jeff and Derek are eating fast food. Derek: Exactly. EXACTLY! There’s nothing remotely inappropriate about saying that Air Bud was the Jackie Robinson of dogs! Derek: It’s the entire premise! If anything, it honors Jackie Robinson by making his accomplishments understandable to a generation that didn’t experience segregation! (A Black person walks by in the background, Derek seems keenly aware of him) Derek: Of course Air Bud isn’t real, so it’s not really the same. And dogs still lack a true Dr. Martin Luther King figure… Derek (returning to normal): Dude, If she thinks that’s worth breaking up over, it’s her loss.
